I know that when January hits people start seriously thinking about how they will spend the wonderful week in mid-March known as Spring Break. It is sad to say that this will, in fact, be my last official Spring Break as a student. I will probably end up doing something low key this year since I will be in the middle of taking the CPA exam. This year I will spend the week reminiscing on my Spring Break from last year.
A group of my friends came up with the idea to go to the Dominican Republic. Honestly, I didn’t know anything about the Dominican other than the fact that two of my favorite baseball players were from there. I just wanted to go somewhere tropical for my senior year Spring Break. But there are obvious safety issues to think about when going South of the United States. We had talked with a couple different travel agents who insisted that the Dominican Republic was a safe vacation spot. So the Dominican Republic it was. We chose to stay at an all-exclusive resort called the Majestic Elegance. When we arrived at the hotel, I really wasn't sure what to expect. To say it exceeded my expectations is an understatement. Take a look for yourself.

While of course the pool area was impressive, the beach was the most amazing spot I think I have ever seen. As I laid there, I honestly thought I could stay here forever. It was a whole new level of relaxation. The ocean was the clearest, most gorgeous blue.

After a couple of days, our group decided it was finally time to leave the resort and partake on an adventure. Before I really thought about what we had signed up for, our group set out on a cruise where we would swim with sharks and stingrays. Although I am glad I can say I did it, I honestly didn't really enjoy the whole shark part. I was pretty uneasy swimming in a tank with about 20 sharks.

The Dominicans were all so helpful and friendly. And the most impressive part to me was that I felt completely safe while there. Many people wait to the last minute and say, “Oh, we can just go to Destin or somewhere.” Well instead, if you jump on it early and get a good deal to the Dominican Republic, I would highly recommend it. Tell your parents you will somehow pay them back. Figure out some way. I hope you can see that it is well worth it.
